The HOMO SAPIENS series consists of thirty-two black-and-white artworks created in a few short weeks of intense creative activity during the Summer of 1996. Acrylic painting on stretched canvas is here combined with collage. The topics range from family disharmony to world violence and social disintegration. The series features a rodent as the main character. By choosing a rodent (cute but vicious!) and placing it in universally recognizable settings (such as the Last Supper, the Arch of Triumph, the Statue of Liberty), I tried to underscore the universality of my message about Man's inhumanity.

ABOUT THE BOOK
HOMO SAPIENS introduces the reader to a series of mixed media paintings about human violence. The series was created by artist-author Judith Weinshall Liberman during her long career in visual art and is in the collection of Queensboro Community College in Bayside, New York. The paintings, which feature a prairie dog as their subject, are here presented to the reader for the first time in one volume. The clear text and the accompanying images of the artworks combine to throw light on the scope and meaning of the artist-author's paintings about human violence.
